Get everything prepared before you start

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

The breakfast presenter on one of our local radio stations has just been talking about a new shop she spotted on the drive to work today.

It hasn’t opened yet but it’s exciting her… apparently its name suggests it’s a shop selling handmade chocolate.

And she said the website address was splashed all over the window. But when she visited the website, there was nothing there! Guess what – the shop didn’t get a name check on air.

What a wasted publicity opportunity for a new shop.

It’s not difficult to make sure everything is ready before you start. Don’t give out your website address till you have a website there. You have one chance for first time visitors, and that applies to ordinary people as well as journalists.

How long does a press release live?

Monday, September 24th, 2007

While flicking through a magazine this morning looking for a promised client credit, I found unexpected coverage for a different client. It was from a press release we sent out in June (and this was the October edition of the magazine).

It just goes to prove that well written press releases with a great story can have a long life. The magazine had clearly been saving this one up for a weddings feature they were working on.

Thanks to the internet, your press releases can also live on as pages on your website. Not only will they be of interest to people who visit the site, but they can attract new traffic in the first place. Search engines like sites that are adding new relevant content. And that’s what press releases are.

Testimonials

"Paul was recommended to me by others who had used his service and I must say that they were right to do so."

Lee Simpson, Studio Eighty Six

"I am absolutely blown away with the standard of the magazine from Publicity Heaven. The design, content, printing, delivery, customer service... everything has far exceeded any expectations I could even have imagined. 'Really pleased' does not do it justice, more like 'blown away'."

Helen Murray, SureSlim Kettering & Corby
