OK, so the economy is apparently dead, we’ve lost £1.8 trillion down the back of the settee, house repossessions are up 71%, and the biggest US election for a generation is next week. Not a quiet news day then.
Yet Russell Brand’s niche weekend radio show has attracted so much mainstream media that it has now generated 10,000 complaints. Incredible.
It all kicked off on Sunday when the Mail on Sunday splashed the story… and it seems to have got bigger and bigger since.
A fascinating example of the power the mainstream media still possesses (if 10,000 people were offended by the show when it was broadcast, why did they wait 10 days to complain?).
If Russell Brand manages to hang onto his show, I’ll put a quid on his listening figures going up.
