How to find the best press release service
By Publicity Heaven writer Susan Connolly
So you have decided to use a press release service to help your business get more publicity. in an ideal world, the company you choose will take the hassle off your hands and leave you with more time to spend on your business while delivering the publicity that you need to grow your business. So, how do you find a press release writing and distribution service that is right for you?
Look for testimonials from other clients
A good press release service should have their pick of testimonials from happy customers that they can display on their website. If they do not show feedback from previous customers, you have to wonder why. Of course, you should not just rely on what they choose to publicise, after all, they are hardly going to put up the opinions of customers who have been unhappy. Search the web for the experiences of other customers.
Make sure to read the reviews – both positive and negative. What one customer loved, you may find is not what you are looking for, and a working relationship that another customer found undesirable might be just what you need. Don’t forget to speak to colleagues and contacts within your industry. They may have had some experiences in the past that could help you today.
Ask to see a portfolio of work
You should be able to see the results that the company has been able to achieve for their other customers. Ask to see some samples of the publicity that they have achieved for previous customers and see if you would be happy with the same level of service. A company that has gotten rave reviews for their success in placing press releases in niche publications may not be suitable for you if you want more mainstream distribution, and vice-versa.
Do you stay in control? Can you easily make changes to your press release?
The best press release services will want to know you are satisfied with the service they provide. Ask them what there policies are on explaining their efforts and results. Look for tangible ways that your feedback will be incorporated into the service that they are giving you.
How do they conduct their business?
Different business owners want different relationships from their service. You might prefer a more distant relationship where you simply email over an idea and pay the fee or you might want a more hands-on approach where you have a greater degree of input into what is written; where your press release will be sent and how it will be treated.
Discuss your expectations and desires with your potential press release service before you make your decision – after all, you do not want any surprises down the line when you realise that you are not being provided with what you thought you had paid for.
