The sat nav challenge

If you are like me, you wouldn’t venture far in the car without sat nav. It has been a very useful tool to me, being so new to living in England I am not familiar with many of the roads.
Paul and I were attending the same meeting on Monday evening, and in conversation learned that [...]

National Stress Awareness Day

Today, 5th of November is National Stress Awareness Day.
Whilst reading up on the subject of stress, let’s face it, we all get stressed at some point! I came across a groovy little game where you can burst balloons to chill out. If you are the kind of person that enjoys popping the bubbles on bubble [...]

If you’re going to do a prank, do it properly

This is a bit off-topic, but made me laugh so much I had to show you.
What do you do when the boss deserves a prank and you’ve got a few hours to kill? How about use up the office’s stock of Post-It notes?
If you do do this at your office, take a photo and send [...]

Just had a moment of inspiration…

There’s a song playing on Radio 2, where the chorus is “Goodbye Blackberry Way” (by Move, number one in December 1968).
Any business that’s trying to get people to switch from using a Blackberry to their mobile email device - like Nokia - should licence the song for their adverts.
Pity we’re not in advertising.

How to get rid of cold callers

Very off-topic, but I just made myself laugh with a 7 second unwanted cold sales call:
Phone rings
Me: Good afternoon Publicity Heaven
Caller: Hello, is that Mr P M Green of Publicity Heaven
Me: Er… yes.
Caller: Fantastic. My name’s Bob, I’m calling from XYZ Ltd, we work with Royal Mail, and I’m calling to see if you are [...]

Tomorrow it will be 02:03:04 05/06/07

Totally off topic, but at three minutes and four seconds past 2am tomorrow morning, it will be:
02:03:04 05/06/07
That kind of stuff is really cool.

How to surprise your customers

Seemingly out of the blue, Sky have written to us at home, and said they’ll no longer be charging us £10 a month just to have Sky+. Now we will get it free.
Fantastic!
I’m not stupid enough to think they’ve done it for any other reason than to keep our custom for another year, and [...]

Write a blog, get a book deal

Interesting story in today’s MediaGuardian about bloggers who are hunted down by book publishers (free registration required).
I blog primarily for pleasure - I want to share the great publicity-related things I find with you!
But I’m conscious blogging is also good for business. In the last few weeks I have received two leads as a result [...]

The goat is dead

Following on from the man who marries a goat being one of the most popular stories on the BBC website, a sad update: the wife goat is dead.

A 21st century revolt

Great story on the BBC about how users of Digg.com kept re-submitting a story about how to crack digital rights management on a DVD, after the story was legally taken down.
