Where’s the tourist hotspot in your town?

Monday, December 18th, 2006

I’m off to New York for Christmas, so was pretty excited to see this article about marketing in Times Square. There are so many people taking photos and videoing everything that moves, that if you can attract attention in Times Square, you get featured around the world on the internet.

You can apply where you live. Where’s the one part of your town that most people pass through? What could you do there to attract attention? Thanks to the internet this is the ‘new word of mouth’, where normal people can get you in front of other people.

It’s still easier to get the media to do the job for you, but as Times Square shows, you don’t always need them. As long as your marketing or publicity is good enough to stand out, the people will do a pretty good job for you.

The ability to see the most popular stories on the BBC’s website is an invaluable tool in your quest for free publicity. It’s so helpful to track news trends across the day.

Plus it’s a really cool thing to watch the stories move up and down.

Testimonials

"Paul from Publicity Heaven was a pleasure to work with and we can't recommend him highly enough. A five star service."

Darren Andrews, Political Hearsay

"I am absolutely blown away with the standard of the magazine from Publicity Heaven. The design, content, printing, delivery, customer service... everything has far exceeded any expectations I could even have imagined. 'Really pleased' does not do it justice, more like 'blown away'."

Helen Murray, SureSlim Kettering & Corby
