How to generate news stories from surveys

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Great article on the Press Gazette site about stories based on surveys.

There’s good guidance about some of the things your survey needs, to be picked up by the media – including sample size, newsworthiness and authenticity. Although this is talking about the national media, it’s pretty relevant if you’re targeting the local media too.

Asda’s 8p Valentine’s card is awesome publicity stunt

Monday, February 13th, 2006

Will someone please give Asda a publicity award for their 8p Valentine’s card. Not only are they proving again and again that they can generate good publicity, but it’s always about how they’re selling something expensive really cheaply… exactly the message they want you to get.

They did it with wedding dresses a few weeks ago. Brilliant.
